Personal Statement

Series C is a visual journey through the landscapes of China and Canada. Photographs are accompanied by captions featuring songs that resonated with me during my travels and were edited to evoke the essence of the moment. The lines from lyrics are then chosen, intertwining them with the visual composition to authentically recreate the experiences captured. Through cinematic editing techniques, the images are transformed into a sequence that hints at a carefully constructed story, reminiscent of the captivating narratives found in movie stills.

Images were selected and combined into a sequence which were later presented within light boxes, creating an intriguing visual experience that further reinforces the cinematic quality of the series. The presentation evokes a sense of curiosity and immersion akin to stepping into a darkened movie theatre. The staged and edited narrative woven throughout the series adds an element of theatricality, blurring the lines between reality and fiction, inviting viewers to engage with the photographs on a deeper level, encouraging them to imagine the unseen moments that lie beyond the frame.
